I have Norton Antivirus 2001 installed. Windows ME is the OS. I used to get notified when new virus definitions are available and then I would download them. For over a month now Norton does notify me anymore, it just downloads them. I know it is doing this because the date listed for the virus definitions changes and when I run LiveUpdate it always says I am up to date.

I looked at the Automatic Live Update options and the option is checked to notify me when updates are available. I do not know why I am not getting notified anymore. Any ideas why this is happening?

I don't think this is a serious problem, I am just really curious.

    Thanks in advance.

I have norton antivirus installed on my computer but it always tells me when it downloads something or an undate is ready to download. I have it set for automatic download. You have 2001 antivirus, are you up to date as far as registering every year for a fee? I have version 2003 on mine. Are you the only one that uses the computer? If you are not, which I am not, I hardly see the popup telling me that its updating. I just check the file date.

I also might add to Debe's statement that it is not all Machines that do this. Three out of four we have here do not exhibit this phenomenon.

I have been paying for virus definitions every year and I am the only one that uses the computer.

Thank You Debe for letting me know what Symantec told you. I thought about contacting them if this post did not help. I now know that other people have been experiencing the same problem.

I guess I will just monitor the situation.

I may be just fishing here, I only have Nortons 2000.

Is Live Update configured to Interactive Mode or Express Mode?

Mine is on Interactive and it always asks me.

    Just a guess . . .

What I did was bring up my Nortons (2000) and clicked on the Live Update button. It came up with the searches it will do and it has a configure button. On mine it has four tabs, click the General tab and it has two choices, Interactive, or Express.

oooo, I feel all geekey in this section, deff not Random!
