Up until a few days ago, my Norton Ghost 10 installation was working fine, backing up to a schedule etc.

Then I noticed that the icon was gone from the task tray. When I started Ghost manually and tried to access any of it's functions, it gave an error message stating:

    .NET framework not found
To run Norton Ghost, you must first install Microsoft .NET Framwork Version 1.1. Would you like to install the Microsoft .NET Framwork package?

When I accept, it appears to install it, but when I try and access Ghost functions I get the same error message again. It keeps going round this loop.

I'm running Windows XP with SP2 and all the latest patches etc.

John, thanks for taking the time to reply. I've tried both your suggestions with no luck. On further digging via Google, I have found a few references to this problem when .NET 1.1 is installed along with .NET 2.0. ALthough this is a valid situation, some people experience a problem with Ghost 10.0. Apparently, although not recorded in the Symantec knowledge base, this is a problem they acknowledge but have no workaround for or fix planned. I guess the "fix" is to upgrade to Ghost 12. In my case, this is the final straw that has made me decide to move to a Mac. Life is too short, and I have blown away too many weekends re-installing Windows and all my apps. to keep doing it, so I now offically resign from my unpaid post in Microsoft's QA department.

Hi sammc.I'm not sure if I'm to late to help but there seems to be a lot of people who are getting rid of norton and opting for better protection products (Freeware) and other goodies. I have not used this link before but it is safe according to (mcafee site advisor)
