I cannot seem to find NIS 2006 software for anything earlier than 2000. Are they simply no longer making software for 98, ME, etc??

I'm sure this question has been posed before. But I did a search of the forum and too many pages of threads came up, and...I just don't have the time or inclination to go through them all.

A lot of programs originally designed for the 9x series will not be upgraded to keep working because the makers can't (or won't) retain the compatibility with the old FAT32 file system and make them work successfully with the NT system that is used by 2000/XP etc.

It's just a harsh fact of computing life, Microsoft's final abandonment of 9x provides the justification for the others to do the same.

Stubborn upgrade refuseniks like me can only console themselves with the thought of all those brand new Vista boxes that will soon be online 24/7 and will be a much more tempting target than my geriatric 98 box on dialup!

Having said that I'm not tempting fate too much so I don't use IE and have NOD32 and ZA Pro installed, plus a few other goodies to keep the wolf from the door!

Thanks for the replies. I used zonealarm once when I was in between. My NIS renewal would be $40!!!!!
