I found a copy of Norton SystemWorks 2005 for $69.99. I comes with $60 worth of mail-in-rebates. Is it worth it to buy it? Is it a good program?

Norton system works has a lot of good tools, windoctor. disk doctor, quick clean, speed disk and more, The down side and it;s a big down side is norton anti virus, it's a real system hog, I use system works, but I do a custom install and leave out NAV, system doctor and unrase wizard, you could then use a free anti virus like AVG.

System Works is brilliant,Win Dr is the most in depth diagnostic/repair tool I have ever
used,Disk Dr takes care of the hard drive, and fast & clean can recover an average of
25 mgb's disk space per week, with a cute GRU for all.Ghost is usually rated the top
imaging utility, and go-back is there if ever needed & probably is better than system
restore.Whether to install or run from CD?-I run it on clients computers from the CD &
it has a 100% effective repair record! And mine only cost $20 delivered!

I hate Norton overall, but of the 2, I prefer 2004 since it has all the tools I would use and is a lot less intrusive. But you know Norton's motto: "If you find a bug, buy the next edition."

If you ever want to remove the 'suite' (S/N's word) be sure to only use their uninstall method. I had "2004" with an instruction book wherein the uninstall directions could be found. Perhaps that is true for "2005," too. You can go to the S/N site and find the info, but is virtually hidden. Obviously S/N doesn't want its product thrown away! Furthermore, S/N has a terrible reputation when it comes to support.

If you're planning to install Norton SystemWorks 2005, go here afterwards and get the 8.03 patch that's available for it. Make sure to read the information posted there.
