Hello. i am upgrading my mobo and am going to PCI express video card. my old card was ATI AIW 9800pro 128MB. i am torn between x1600pro and 7600GS. my bugdet is <175$ (canadian). I'd like to go 512MB this time around.

i am NOT a gamer. i must have tv out. my use is mostly multimedia and some web/graphical design and some video editing. i have my own website so i design it myself. i am always using dreamweaver/fireworks and watching movies.

here is what i was considering:

    7600GS - 512MB 174$
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009934&cid=999.243

    x1600pro - 512MB 142$
    http://www.extreme-pc.ca/showproduct.asp?productid=369328&menu1id=12&menu2id=99&menu3id=39

    x1600pro - 512MB 134$
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009935&cid=999.243

    n6600 - 512MB 140$
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=010356&cid=999.243

incidentally my mobo is socket 939 asus A8N-SLI deluxe, AMD dual core x2 4400+ processor, and 4GB ocz DDR400 PC3200 RAM.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.:)

They didnt really give me specs on the Extreme PC one but your best bets are

well the upgrade is not going to happen till next week so i cant tell you first hand. but i did do a lot of research and i have a friend who is very well informed who i trust wo is in the computer business. he is the one who recommened me this combo. he owns a major computer company in canada. he has the same system as his display model and he says it overclocks to 2.6+ GHz real easy with no stability issues. i saw it first hand. he was right. but i was still play devil's advocate and asked him why not A8N-SLI premium mobo or 4600+. basically i told him i want to spend more $$$. after a long discussion i agree with him that this set up is the best bang for your buck, expecially since the prices have dropped to rapidly recently. the only thing now i need to decide is video card. he recommended me link#2 as well. thanks for your reply.

    7600GS is better . . .

    I'd go with that :)
