Not computer techy, getting erro reboot.....

    HI, I am not good in computers at all, I just got the following error " reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

    It is my work from home computer and I have a lot of stuff that I cant afford to loose, I appreciate all help,

    can you see the hard drive listed in the bios ok

    if it is

    d/load and run the h/drive makers diagnostic utility on the h/drive

    if it is not check the data cable is secure,try a new data cable on in it

    was it supplied by your office to work from home, or is it a personal computer that has been given the okay to be used to work from home by the main office?

    if I press any key, it keeps on loading the error message, less I press ctrl alt delete

    press the delete key as it is booting up to enter the bios

    can you see your drives listed

    hard drive

    cd/dvd drive ect.

    k, i see system time, system date, language, floppy diskette a, 1st drive, 2nd drive 3rd drive 4th drive?

    where you see drives 1.2.3.4

    do you see your hard drive listed on one of them

    if not check the data cable is secure

    try a new data cable

    if it is listed run the makers diagnostic on the drive
