I add 1 GB of memory to the notebook, to notebook that already had 512 MB of memory. However, the notebook only see 1 GB of memory, not 1.5 GB of memory. I tried resetting the memory into modular, no luck.

    Thanks!!

If you take out the old 512MB stick how much does it see?

You may need to exchange the memory for another brand, not all sticks will be compatible with all laptops. May manufacturer's like Crucial and Kingston offer a memory configurator on their website to make sure the memory you're buying will work.

Try flipping the two sticks around and see if it works.

They work separately, but not together.
