Nothing Seems to Work

I pirated a movie, bad idea going in sure. figured the worst that'd happen would be that I'd have to do is factory reset and I was fine with that. Now I've spent a day rebooting, trying to reset my pc, being denied resetting my pc trying to use the command prompt, checking the disk twice for three hours, none of the command inputs working, and finally attempting to boot windows via a flash drive, which also failed unceremoniously. At this point I can lose my files if that's the only option, but I can't factory reset anymore, with or without retaining my files.

Hiya AuntPhil979,

I assume you have booted to the "Troubleshoot" options, is that correct..? If so select "Advanced Options" from the new window select "System Restore" after that follow the prompts and select a restore point prior to the time and date of your current issue. Does system restore complete, are you now able to boot to normal windows..?

If system restore does not work do you have access to another PC and a USB flash drive 4GB or above...?

Thank you,

Kevin..

Next,

Boot your PC and let it go as far as it can, Now hold down the Shift key and re- boot your PC. Windows should open to the "Choose an Option" window....

  • In the command window type e:\frst64 or e:\frst depending on your version. Press Enter Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
  • The tool will start to run.
  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
