what happens exactly is that it goes through the start up normally and after the xp loading screen in between that and the logon screen it pops up and if i keep clicking it it will disappear and beep like hell then i can logon and i cant standby shut off restart or hibernate with out the error coming on. im thinking it might be some software that tryed to install from a friends jump drive it was U3 or something could that be it. if i start my comp with the jumpdrive in will that tell me if u3 is my problem.

Did you click on the link I put on post 2 and try any of that?
It sounds to me like you were trying to install something and it "broke" during the install. What have you tried to install recently? If nothing, you say you put in your friend's jumpdrive- that in itself shouldn't do it, but if the installation of the drive (it has an exe. called launchpad) is in a different language then it wouldn't be able to follow the file path. When you get that error, exactly what does it say?

You can try taking items out of start up. Click Start, Run, type "msconfig" without the quotes then click OK, click on the startup tab. Take a look at the startup item column- uncheck all items except, igfxtray, hkcmd, smax4pnp, nwtray, ctfmon. Click apply, OK, then choose restart. Once your computer loads hopefully the error message will be gone. You will get a window saying the system utility has been changed...just click on the don't show again.
OK, so now if that error is gone we want to put some of your startup items back. Follow the above directions until you get to the window where the startup items are; you want to scroll down the list and put back any instance of your antivirus (usually they have 2 or 3 or more items in startup- for updating, for launching, etc...).
    Crossing fingers this helps....

Did you try what I said to do in post #8? It should eventually restart after closing the error- if not you may have to do a hard shut dow....
Don't worry about the anti virus portion until you get rid of the error....
