NTLDR Error Please Help

    Dell Lattitude D500 win xp. Installed GMAIL virtual drive after which laptop will not boot
    NTLDR error. Searched for help and found fixntldr software that enable me to boot via a floppy. A long winded routine that doesent solve the underlying problem. I cant access the Dell installation disk through my USB CD Drive. Dont want to reformat as my system was in good shape prior to Damn Google. Any hel will be much appreciated

    You may have to use the recovery boot option to fix this. You need to set your BIOS to boot to the USB device as the first device.

    Thanks for the response. Can you help me with setiing the BIOS to recognise the USB CD Drive ? I am not very experienced.

    When you boot up your computer do you see anything on the screen that you need to press to get into Setup? Sometimes it's F1 or it could be Enter but you have to do it right away.

    When you get into the bios look for something like Devices that you access using the arrow keys, from there you should be able to rearrange the starting sequence.

    Normally it's the floppy then the hard drive but you can temporarily change it so the USB device boots first, then the floppy then the hard drive.
