I started a system restore on my computer. Everything was going fine until i received the NTLDR is compressed error on my screen. I have a Windows XP. I do not have important files on this computer. I am just trying to get it back to factory bought style.

What's the model number of that HP Pavilion?

If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number or service tag number on the sticker is.

Here is the support and software site for the HP Pavilion a705w desktop.

I suggest that you make use of the "Solve a problem" section.

That desktop is over 6 years old, so I doubt if HP/Compaq will still have the recovery CD kit available for purchase.

If you do need a recovery CD kit, it can be purchased here.

Ok. thank you very much. Is there any way to fix this problem without buying the cd package?

Here is the section on doing a system recovery. Hopefully, the first 2 of the 3 listed methods will be helpful to you.

I'm getting ready to go off-line for the night, so I'll check back with you in the morning.
