I have a laptop with no serial port (it has 3 USB ports, 1-db25 parallel, 1-RGB and 1-s-video) and I need to talk to another computer at work. With the right adaptor and cable, can I configure a null modem cable to go from a USB port to a 9-pin?

    Howdy SteveOH...

Not sure what conditions you have at work, but have you thought about a USB Network adapter ?

I'd second the suggestion for the NIC, it's a lot easier to network with real networking hardware. :D

If not I would go for a parallel to parallel cable. It should be faster than trying to use a serial port for data transfers.
