Anyone heard of, or had experience with apps that read text files (.doc, HTML), and convert to an audio file, such as could be played in WMP?

Those other drivers on the road are not at all understanding:rolleyes: when I'm trying to work on my laptop, and I need multiple lanes simultaneously:eek:  .

Well, MS XP Narrator is great for home. But for the road, it inhales(n) .

No volume control for 'Microsoft Sam':( .
Navigate the cursor, and the file 'read' re-loads:( .
When screen saver kicks in, good-bye 'read' (and screen saver timing ain't adjustable):( .

Gotta' try the readplease app, noyb...

    Anybody else got recommendations?

    How about this: http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/default.asp

You'll need the reader and two plug-ins. One is for converting word documents to a ereader file and the other is for converting text to speech.

I see a lot of stuff listed if you google for tts but most appears to be pay for, I'm sure if look around sites for the visually impaired you'll find something if the MS reader doesn't work for you.
