    Please forgive me if this has been addressed :eek:
    In earlier versions of Outlook Express 6, I was able to paste many copies of say, a smilieface :) into my email messages. All I had to do was select the smilieface gif file from the computer. Then I would send a copy to the clipboard. From that point onwards all I need do was choose 'Paste' whenever I wished to add another smilieface.
    After several Windows Updates, this no longer seems to work :( It looks fine when I'm composing the email but after sending it, only the image inserted via the source file remains.

    My o/s is Windows 98 SE
    Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1123
    and mshtml.dll version is 1226

    Please help!

    Check in Tools | Options | Send

    If HTML is not ticked, that could be the problem. The graphics may be stripped out as its converted to text

    :eek: (was just about to go to sleep)

    Hi :)
    I checked this setting and HTML is selected. The pasting method used to work about two months ago and the settings were the same (I think). I can still send images, but each one has to be added from it's source file. The copy/pasted ones show up as a small empty box.

    Another unusual thing is I don't get a warning box that such and such image is not included and can't be sent. It just goes to my outbox as if everything is okay.

    Thanks for your quick response, kiwiguy :)

    Thankyou sekirt :)

    So it is a Windows Update problem :( And this is not the first time :mad: A number of months ago a Windows Update caused trouble with the mshtml.dll file:
    http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=121618&goto=nextoldest

    I'm unable to find the 330994un.inf file.
    Can we expect Microsoft to issue a fix for this bug in the near future ?

    To be honest, I'm not inclined to download future security updates that cause more problems than they fix :(

    Thank-you once again for your help :):)

    Cally

    p.s. it was odd that an earlier update left entries in the add/remove programs list that normally should be hidden - Internet Explorer Q822925 and Windows 98 Q823559

    This isn't an updates problem. Are there just blank spots where the graphics should be, or red X's there?

    Also, when the people receive the messages, are they still in HTML format, or another format?

    Are they on-line when they are reading the message, or offline?

    For Wet Chicken:
    There are red X's inside of small boxes, one for each image that is culled. The images added from a source file (instead of being pasted) remain.

    The messages are in HTML format when they are recieved and returned. My friend sees the same thing I do.

    Sometimes they are online, sometimes not.

    An additional bug:
    Selecting the same source image twice causes the second image not to be displayed... meaning a small box with a red X in it.

    When viewing the source code (just like was done in the discussion in the first link given by sekirt), I think I can see where the error is:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    <META content="MSHTML 6.00.2800.1226" name=GENERATOR>
    <STYLE></STYLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
    <DIV><FONT face=Verdana size=2><IMG alt="" hspace=0
    src="cid:[email protected]" align=baseline border=0><IMG
    alt="" hspace=0 src="cid:[email protected]" align=baseline
    border=0></FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>

    @Callist should be @Callisto :confused:

    :eek: you won't believe this... when I fix the source by adding the missing "o", the preview shows the 2nd image. But when I save it, the "o" for the second image code gets removed again.

    :(

    If the "o" is missing, then it is seeing another address and not the one it should.

    When your friend sends you a copy of the e-mail, that is not going to prove anything because they are sending you a copy of the "mistake", whatever the mistake happens to be.

    Try this, send YOURSELF an email and see what happens. Let me know.

    What we're trying to do Callisto is to find out if this is happening on your end, or your friends end.

    You're assuming it's on your end, but it could also be their end too ;)

    I sent an email to myself and it returned the same way.

    The problem seems to be with the current version of OE. It is incorrectly removing the last letter of a second identical address (the sinlge source file for both images) in emails that I am composing from scratch. Adding to my suspicions is the fact this method worked about two months earlier with no problem.
    :(
