OE6 not sending attachments! Please Help!

when i try to send an attachment with an email, no matter what the size, it continually comes up with the message "smpt server has been idle for 60 seconds. do you wish to wait?"
I have adjusted my wait time to the max of 5 minutes and the email still does not through.
I can still send text emails not worries though!

Please help

Disable any antivirus option of scanning of outgoing emails and try again?

have done. still no luck. this is really frustrating!
