I wish to buy windows 98 the OEM is cheaper.EBAY sellers
ship with apparent NG hardware to satify EBAY and
MICROSOFT. I do not understand what does this accomplish.
Does microsoft not care if you buy retail or OEM because of
small sales of 98. I understand the differences between retail and OEM.
    Any and all information appreciated.

    Thank You
    James

Just a legal issue. OEM versions are licensed to be sold with hardware. The real intent is it is sold with a computer system (hardware) but, the agreement only says with hardware, not a computer. This is why anytime you buy an OEM version, you must buy some type of hardware.

    Hmmmm....

Just thinking, might be legal if you were to drill holes in the side panel of the case and put a hinge on it with the screwdriver. At that point the hinge becomes computer hardware......:D :D :D
