for some weeks now , i have had update failure from microsoft , relating to office 2003. i tried uninstalling it , but it would not . [ that's one i haven't heard before ! ] . then after a few days ...it's not in the add/remove program list anymore . i then tried to install it from disc , but it came up with an " uninstall failure " . i did try system restore , but , it failed as well. no new programs have been added . i am not overly computer literate , but this one i haven't seen before . any help would be appreciated . (y)

Does the 2003 Office disk have a repair facility.
it seems as if it has vanished from the add/remove programs in control panel . i have a disc , but it will not load it , as partway through it gives an error message saying installation cannot be completed . it seems strange that system restore doesn't function either . any tips ? thanks

My apologies

The best way is to post a HijackThis log and let an Log Expert to look at it for you.

Download Hijack This to your desktop
  • Extract Files
  • Open the file and click on the Hijack.exe
  • It will open and use the default path
  • Check do you wish an Icon
  • Click on Icon and choose "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
  • Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
  • Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

well , in a trial and error ,it seems that the disc was corrupted or damaged that i tried to install it with . i found a copy of office xp , and it loaded ok . not exactly what i wanted , but it will do . i am a little disappointed though . i didn't seem to get a lot of replies . it is only my 2nd question , and it feels a little lonely . just my humble 2 cents worth . :(
