    Try downloading the executable file from the Windows Update Catalog site. If you have never been on the site, you will have to install a little MS software program. After you get on the site, just enter the KBXXXXX number into the search box and hit enter. Select the download listed for your system and click the "ADD" button. After you have all your downloads added, click the "View Basket" button and proceed with the download. After downloading just open the individual folders and launch the executable file.

    I do ALL my updates this way.

    Download and save it, then close all open windows first, then double-click it to start the install process.

    After you're done, go to Windows Update and do a "custom" scan.
