Wanting to see if anyone has come accross this before. When opening A word document from a website it opens it in IE8 or IE9 and has an option to open in word from IE. When opening Word 10 opens just fine however the document does not open.

The only thing I have found that will correct it will be to remove the user folder from documents and settings then relog back into the pc using my log in information.

When a different user of the pc logged in his worked and opened fine. I would like to think there is a fix that will be able to save me from backing up everything and reloading.

    Thank you!

Can you open locally stored documents in Word without any problem? (I'm trying to establish whether or not the problem is limited to online docs only, or if that's just a red herring).

Yes local documents open up just fine. It is only when using the Open with Word option using IE so appears to be happening with IE8 and IE9
