Have Office XP. When trying to install SP1 it reports an error where it says that one of the temp files it has created has changed and can not continue. Have disabled av and firewall.

The Office XP is supplied by my work, could this be the problem.

If you can post back with the exact error message it may help.

Can,t see why the Office XP being supplied by your company would be an issue. The program probably doesn't know who supplied it, and shouldn't care

Also post back with the version of Windows you are running.

ERROR message rec'vd

Error 1328. Error applying patch to file c:\config.msi\PT4D6.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor.

This is a temp file created as part of the patch upgrade. Turned off all other s/w (av, fw, etc) still will not install. HELP!!!!

Tried that one, and the admin update option to update the actual install set with the SP. They all fail on the same file with the same error.

Looks like the corporate version is not going to be able to be patched in your case, as it already contains a pre-SP1 version of the file(s), in a pre-patched state.

Does the company have any other versions available that have not been pre-patched?

Not that I can obtain. They turn certain things off for security reasons.
