Asus a266n-vm running ME xp1600 256ddr no problems for over a year... now I come home to a non responsive, wont boot, error ridden unit that I can only get to the help screen on. I tried to re-install and got to the part where files are almost copied and got a message stating that an error occured (SUWIN) with an option to close or ignore, but it will not let me choose ignore. I did scanreg/restore to a previous date with improvement. Anybody got a fix. I would like to be able to recover the doc's and data etc. so I really dont wont to re format and clean install. Please help, thanks John

VxD dynamic link call: acpi (01) + 000001FA to "0043" , service 8001 also at about 65 % of copying files I get SUWIN caused a general protectio fault in module VERX.DLL at 0002:34 AE which I think just refers to where, the install was terminated.

SUWIN errors are generally from an OS already being on the hard drive that is not the correct version for the one you are attempting to install. Reinstall the OS on a newly FDISKED and formatted partition.

Thanks, RSM123 unfortunately I cant get back to ME, and I can t reinstall either. It just gives and error message that I must reinstall windows. So I guess a few hours of Fdisk and smirnoff will fix everything. Regards, John
