    So, here's the question :-

I've got a small home network connected to the internet through an out-of-the-box Netgear Gateway RT311 Router with the default settings untouched.

Do I also need a software firewall to maximise my internet protection, or can I survive safely without the firewalls ?

If that was a stupid question, what's the easy answer ? Please.

I hope you changed the default password ;)

    I still use zonealarm.

No, cybertech, I didn't change nuthin'.
I will do so now, but should I change anything else ?
I have been using ZAP on all four networked PCs, but I was thinking of getting rid of them because of various recent network difficulties - printer, email, scanner.
If I dump ZAP, will it leave me any more exposed, or can I feel safe just with the router acting as my firewall ?
Or doesn't it quite work that way ?
