Since we upgraded to IE 7.0, everytime we try to run any of our old DOS programs, we get the "Open File Security Warning" box with the warning "The publisher cannot be verified." We then have to select run. These DOS programs were written inhouse. (The short cuts we created for these DOS programs do not work at all.) Is there a way of letting IE 7.0 (or whatever part of XP security that causes it) know that these programs can be trusted so that the "Open File Security Warning" box does not appear anymore for these programs?
Thanks

Hiya

See if this works for the files. Right-click on them, and choose Properties. At the bottom, click on Unblock, Apply and OK.

Do they work okay now?

See if this works. This is only a tempory measure, so if it works, delete the below as follows after. You may want to create a restore point, just in case:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspx

Rightclick on My Computer and choose Properties. Advanced tab, Enviromental variables. In User variables, click on new, and add the following:

Variable Name: SEE_MASK_NOZONECHECKS
Variable Value: 1

OK on all when closing each little window.

Restart the pc, just to be sure, then try the DOS programs again.

If the above works, when they're all installed, go back to the Enviromental Variable as you did before, and click on it to Highlight (the one you just created) and click on the Delete button. Make sure its the correct one, as there is no question asking if you want to delete it. Then, click OK as normal.
