I have an old PC that I am installing NT 4.0 on it. I don't want to open my machine to see what kind of NIC card it uses. Is the another way to do it, please? if so, how?

I am not very sure about that but I think you should just go to

my computer>properties>hardware>device manager

there should be a list of hardware in your computer. find Network and you'll get the type

or you could use system information on start>accessories>system tools

or you could download... a file called PC wizard on the internet it tells you everything about your old machine and I mean everything.

I'm not sure if PCpitstop will help you http://pcpitstop.com/ but it's worth a try

if it's really an old machine I don't recommend downloading as it's really bogs the computer down. but if all the steps given above don't work then go for it.

If it does not do the trick . . you will just have to open the case and take a gander at the card . .
