I have an old spare SONY Notebook with a 800 MHz processor and only 128 MB or RAM. The hard drive got reformatted and everything was wiped off the drive. (It's a long story.) That was no biggie, since there wasn't anything there worth saving. I've re-installed DOS and would like to install Windows 98, but the program disk for 98 is a CD. I cannot get the CD drive on my SONY to operate. All I can load are floppy disks at this time.

Can anyone tell me how to get the CD drive to operate?

Try moving to the hardware thread rather than Business Apps

You may need a Windows 98 floppy boot disk. The floppy has the needed drivers to read and run the setup CD

If you do not have the correct boot floppy, you may be able to find it here:
    http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

I agree with StuartM that this is in the wrong forum. However, the Windows 95/98/Me forum may be a better fit if CD drive was working before the HD was wiped.
