I am in desparate need of help.

Just registering on this forum and navigating through it took me 10 times longer than it should have. I couln't find any other posts regarding this topic, so please excuse me if this is a repeat.

I am unable to do anything on the internet anymore. Almost every time I click on a link, I am redirected to a page that is a blank white background with a banner for Amazon.com. I tried running "spybot search and destroy" and "ad-aware" but to no avail. I am crippled right now. Every time I do anything on the internet now, I am constantly clicking link>back>back to get to where I wanted to be. The back>back is to go back from the Amazon banner pages.

FYI I am running IE6 and WindowsXP.

    Thank you in advance!

You have, or had, RapidBlaster. First, go here and download RBKiller:

    http://www.wilderssecurity.net/specialinfo/rapidblaster.html#removal

Install and let it do it's thing.

    Reboot.

Okay, somehow you downloaded version 1.97.3 of HJT. Try another download, you should have version 1.97.7.

Once you have the current version, close your browser and check the following entries in HJT, click Fix and then reboot:\

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you so much. Upon my initial inspection, everythings seems to have worked fine. No more Amazon banners!

Just out of curiosity, was this Amazon's incredible marketing wizardry gone bad, or some jaggass trying to score money from Amazon by saturating victims with his banner? I suspect the latter, but just wondering. Also, has anyone else experienced this problem, specifically with Amazon.com banners? Just curious.

Thank you SO much for your help. This is a great thing you guys have going here. Thank you SO MUCH. I appreciate it.

HB, You're Welcome! Glad it all worked out for you. Not sure as to the answer to your question, though let's face it, no one's puttiing those banners out there without some sort of renumeration.

    :)

You should post that log in the 'security' section of this site.

My friend is having the same problem, and I am trying to help him get this fixed. We have tried Spybot Search&Destroy, Ad-Aware, RBKiller, to no avail. I had him run Hijack This:

After rebooting, find and delete this file:

    C:\Program Files\RBEnhance\rbenh.exe"

Have your friend go to HouseCall for an AV scan too.
