I have a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router with 2 pcs connected. Verizon DSL. One of the pcs works just fine but mine works erratic..sometimes so slow won't even open sites. I have checked my pc for viruses, malware, etc. Also the pc that does work gets error when starting could not reconnect all network drives and is not connected to my pc. It has been fine for about 4 years and just suddenly started having these issues. The pc that works is windows vista and mine is windows xp.I would appreciate any help as to why one is not working..Thanks in advance.

Hello Linda. Go to the command prompt and type in ipconfig /all on both of the PCs. To copy the results so that you can post here right click the command prompt window and click select all and press ctrl + c to copy and paste the results here. Please tell me if you need any assistance in doing this process.

Alright we can start with this. Do u see the dns server for the one that works fine which is 71.252.0.12 and the computer that doesn't work is 192.168.2.1? You need to change the DNS server on the one that doesn't work by going to Control Panel, Network Connections, Right-click on the Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection, and go to Properties. After that, you need to go to the Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties and use the following DNS server which is 71.252.0.12.

Actually it has been working better tonight. But that is what happens...sometimes ok..then not. That is why I said it is erratic. And after I changed the DNS server it is still working fine.
