I'm not sure if we're allowed to assist with this. I'm leaning on the side of not, because movies have copyrights that are supposed to prevent people from "streaming them on the net."

I've asked for a Moderator to come by and check out the thread.

Ok thanks, i thought it may be but didn't see anything against it in the rules.

I thought that if they were streamed anyways they aren't illegal as you weren't actuall having any copy of it on your machine or a physical copy, hence why there is so many sites out there that do this(half of them ar ejunk though).

I'm not completely certain as to whether or not it is illegal under those conditions, but what to do about this thread isn't my call.

Just wait patiently for a Moderator to make a decision.

I'm sure it falls under the same category as P2P. You would need to use a paid service that is authorized to distribute them.

Closing thread.

I'm told that I'm incorrect and that you can indeed watch movies for free on many sites so I'm reopening this thread.

I apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding. :)

are you in UK - if so you can use the on demand services such as iPlayer etc to watch movies
If you are talking about some of the sites which breech copyright then we will close the post again

BBC iPlayer also have two HD channels now
BBC1 HD and BBC HD -

If you want to watch for a longer period you can download the iPlayer desktop and that will allow you to download the film and let you watch it over a longer period - maybe 30days

Just a warning
Also anyone linking to illegal sites here will get a BAN
as a number of moderators are now subscribed to this thread

Thanks for re-opening this one, but it's certainly a tricky area to discuss.

very tricky, what country are you in ?

the ondemand services in the UK are very popular and bbc iPlayer is being used as a selling point for a number of networked entertainment systems - like the Humax HD Pvr, freeview and freesat using iPlayer , also TVs have an online portal of which - iPlayer is used along with other streaming services
all still quite early days but i think we will see a lot more of these network questions here as entertainment systems and PCs etc converge

I'm in the UK so I use BBC iPlayer, but I only recently realised this isn't available in all other countries. As not all members here include their location (me included - just going to rectify that!) it's not easy to give advice as one might accidently give someone the idea of trying to access BBC iPlayer in a country where this service is blocked for legal/copyright reasons.

Yes, and on other forums UK based like avforums , this is often an issue for UK people with homes abroad who expect to be able to use iPlayer to continue to watch BBC

Any advice on iPlayer should be qualified for country
