only 1/2 of harddisk is there!

    i have an old hdisk on an old pc.
    the disk label shows that is 4+ Gigs
    when i try to fdisk and format, only half is available
    at fdisk options appears to be only 2+Gigs
    wtf? :)

    Are you using win 95? If so it has a fat 16 file format which has a 2GB limitation. In order to use the entire drive, you will have to partition it. If you are not using 95 and are using 98, when you first fdisk, ensure you enable large disk support.

    it's win98
    large disk support was enabled
    the problem is not this :)

    other suggestions?

    it may have some flavor of EZBIOS on it or an operating system that Windows doesn't see...

    got a make and model number?
