    Hi,

I have just purchased a PC magazine with which came one of those CD-ROM reference discs.

My problem is that having loaded the disc onto my PC, I am only able to view it in the 'minimized' format, ie the viewable area only occupies approximately a fifth of the screen.

The 'Maximise' button is greyed out so I am unable to enlarge the screen.

I can't believe this is normal so is there a way I can restore the size or am I doomed to a life of failing eyesight!

    I am running Windows XP

    Thanks

Have you tried grabbing a corner and dragging it to re-size it?

    Hi bassetman,

    Yup! But no good.

I have also tried clicking on the blue border along the top of the window and again the word 'Maximise' has been greyed out.

    Weird!

They must have created it with the "noresize' option! :(

what resolution are you working on. Most of these freebies on the cd are set at 800 x 600 so if you are using a much higher resolution change it to 800 x 600 to use the programme.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Have tried your suggestion but no go. Just seems to make everything a bit blurred!

I just think this is a case of you get what you (don't) pay for!

    Any ideas still appreciated though!

    Thanks

Sounds like they used Visual Basic and were too lazy to do the extra coding to make resizable windows.

Not familiar with what you have but is there a view button at the top with fontsize as an option?

Or could you copy and paste into another progam? Probably not due to copyright.

    good luck
