Okay, this will be complicated. My sister's laptop stopped working. First, the system32 file was corrupt or missing. Then that stopped showing up. Instead, the laptop took about 5 minutes to load up windows. After windows would load up, the screen went black for about another 5 minutes. Usually the schwlpi.dll (I believe that is the right spelling) file's checksum doesn't match the computed checksum. But that, too, stopped. Now it gets to the disk check. Usually it gets to 4% on Part 2 when it encounters an error and restarts itself. My attempts to bring it to get the data backed up failed due to administrative passwords and file access or something like that. What's going on!? Is there a way I can fix it without removing any of the data. Remember, I cannot log into the computer. Oh, and the ntvdm.exe file's checksum does match up either. And the "STOP: c0000135 {Unable to Locate Component}" message came up. Many more .dll files are possibly corrupt, too.

re-install windows using a windows disk or a recovery cd.

if that doesnt works, the hard drive may be dying!
