I am running Windows 98 Second edition on a 700mghz/124MRam system. On bootup I receive error message "Operating System Not Found". When I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del the system boots up OK & I have no other problems. This sequence happens on all bootups. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this error message? Thank you in advance.

I would go into bios setup program and see what the
    boot order is.

You might also think about replacing the cmos battery on the motherboard......

Restart with a matching Windows Startup disk; at the [A] prompt type, sys c:, and strike the Enter key. You should see Sytem files transferred or equivalent.

Remove the disk and restart your computer by holding down Ctrl + Alt + Delete. If the computer doesn't boot to Windows correctly you may need to explorer a bad HDD. Run scanDisk from a DOS prompt - restart with a windows Startup floppy in the [A] drive; type, scandisk c:, at the [A] prompt and strike the Enter key.

    I asume your running Win9x.

It might also be that your hard drive is not coming up to speed fast enough from a cold boot. Check in your CMOS SETUP to see if it is set to fast boot. If it is, disable that and see if it helps.
