Operating System Not Found on Sony VAIO Laptop

    Hello,

    I have a Sony VAIO Laptop computer. The laptop uses the Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System. TodayI turned on my computer and got a message that my Operating System Not Found. I tried re-booting the computer but I get the same message, Operating System Not Found.

    Any and all advice and comments are welcomed.

    Please provide your Vaio model #.

    Boot to the W7 repair environment.

    You may receive a msg that a version of W7 can not be found. If so, report the exact message.

    If you reach the recovery options. left click the command prompt.
    Type: c:
    Press enter
    type: chkdsk /r
    Press enter

    Report any error messages. When chkdsk /r has finished, there will be a report. Please report the results / report message.

    Then, reboot & try to access Windows.

    The presence of the HDD in the BIOS will not tell us if W7 is installed.

    Also, if the HDD is present, do we know if it is enabled?

    I had the same problem and found the hdd cable was loose.
    Reattach the data and power cables and go into BIOS and see if hdd is detected.

    Yes I agree. Take the laptop and flip it over. On the bottom right side you'll see a lid with 2 screws. Undo the screws and remove the lid. Remove the hard drive and then reattach the drive. ("Make sure it is secure") Put the lid back on and tighten the screws. Now boot the system. You should be up and going. If not, post back either way.
