Hello! I've been running Windows Vista Home Premium on my 6 month old LG (no laughing please) laptop. Everything has been working OK, until this morning...

While playing WoW, my computer stopped responding. Nothing would work to "wake it up" so I was forced to do a hard boot. When the computer started up again, I got the error screen "Operating System not found".

I've been searching online and found nothing that helps - every solution I could find told me to download new drivers, but how do you do that without being able to startup your computer???

    Please Help!
    Patch

Do you have a SATA drive that may need a driver installed first?

I should mention that I have been trying to get EQ2 to work on the computer, mine is also a laptop. Now i should mention that I play eq2 on another laptop (one i am on now =) ) that is windows xp and the earlier model of the crashed computer. So this one is hp pavilion dv8000 series and the crashed one is hp pavilion dv9000 series. I blame it all on Vista.

Mention of the SATA drive not being detected prompts me to ask if you've installed the batch of updates from Microsoft recently.

    Hi,

I have also spent the whole of last night trying to fix a similair issue. My system is a fair new rig, with a fresh install of vista ultimate about a month ago. My system crashed and now when booting displays "Error loading OS". These are the steps I have made to try resolve the problem, but no luck yet.

    1. Ensured all SATA connections are attached correctly.
    2. Disconnected all other hard drives and left only OS HD connected
    3. I can see the HD in BIOS setup screen
    4. Booted up with BART Recovery disk to ensure HD still works. I can browse HD and see all the windows files.
    5. Tried vista repair option in Windows Recovery Environment but OS not found
    6. Tried all these commands from this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 but because it does not even recognise that there is an OS install, nothing happens.
    7. I suspect a recent vista update perhaps<?>

    Any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.
    Skully
