I have an HP Pavilion with Win XP and I recently tried attaching a secondary hard drive while my computer was running. It installed....then I pulled it back out of the plugs......a blue screen popped up and I shut of my computer. When I turned it back on...a black screen suddenly came up saying Operating System Not Found.....PLEASE HELP!! My original hard drive is stil plugged in and has been the whole time.....

Remove the power cord from the back of the computer. Most computers these days don't have a truly "off" state but just go into a hibernation when you Start -> Shutdown. Depriving it of electricity for at least five minutes should do the trick.

Secondly, check the jumpers on your original hard drive and the new one. One should be set to Master and the other one to Slave if they are on the same IDE channel.

    Welcome to TSG!!
