Just moved into a new house that is bigger than my previous one and my wifi is running slow now. I have a tri-band orbi system and was told one option could be to split the bands so that I can choose which devices connect to each band.

Would it be better to do this or to upgrade my modem? Currently have an Arris Surfboard modem.

What's the model number of your Arris SurfBoard modem?
Which upload/download speed plan do you have with your Internet Service Provider(ISP)?
    Who is your ISP?

We have some very good networking experts here, so be patient until one replies.
    Good luck.

Orbi seems to be a mesh router by Netgear. It is a mesh, so just add another one, they will work together.

Yes. Orbi is a mesh system.
