hi guys,

a friend of mine gave me an archos 101 ITv6 tablet running android 2.2.1
it is horrible...by default it cant play youtube videos, has no google market, the wifi works intermittently
and the touch screen doesnt take to well at the bottom
..anyway he ment well

i tried upgrading to a newer version, but after running the process i checked and it was on the same version.
how can i tell what versions of android can run on this device, is there a website for that, tried googling didnt find any.

i suppose some sort of linux is out of a question, like ubuntu remix or something
and if i can update, what software is the best for the job

thanks in advance

the archos web site only has the firmware that is currently installed on the tablet...its dreadful...if i bought this tablet i would send it back. the firmware you pointed me to doesnt work, it says file is for another device.

Can you post a link to the exact model on the Archos site?

While Android is based on Linux but I don't think there are any Ubuntu style distros for it or most other such devices.

hey trip i checked it out...you can actually duel boot it with a distro of debian...but there are a few features missing. so i wont go that route. i saw you can upgrade it to gingerbread..but it looked like such a mission. ridiculous!!!
