    Hello,
I have Outlook 2000. I had a problem opening some contacts so I updated to the latest version of outlook, did all windows updates, ran spybot, and did a safemode virus scan (which removed 4 "IRC Trojan"s).
Now, when I go to open some emails, I get the error
"Can't Open the item. The text formatting command is not available. It may not be installed correctly. Please install Outlook again"
I just went and completely updated the program, so I would rather not have to re-install it and then do all the updates. I ran the "detect and repair" program, but that did not help.
As a side note, outlook takes about 15 minutes to load, not sure why. I archive my mail that's older than 2 months, so my mail file shouldn't be that big. It's not that important, but it may be a symptom of a larger problem?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    ~Adam D.

Try creating a new profile and then import all the data from the old one to the new one. Post here if you are unaware of how to create a new profile and import data. Will provide the steps.

A new profile for windows or outlook?
I would need directions on how to create a new outlook profile.
    Thanks,
    ~Adam D.

Does anyone have any fixes for this issue, besides the work-around of creating another account?
    Thank you,
    ~Adam D.
