Whenever I move messages from the Inbox to the "Deleted" folder, and empty the "Deleted" folder, and then close out the program, the next time I open Outlook they are all back again in the Deleted items folder and also the messages that were new in the last session are showing as "new" again - even though I've already read them!

    What am I doing wrong?

Tools-Accounts, choose your mail account and hit Properties. You're not "leaving a copy on the server" are you? That would mean that everytime you get online, it downloads the same messages. However, the ones previously downloaded ought to still be in your deleted items folder.
