I'm having trouble with the contacts folder. I needed to import in a .pst which has the address book I need. I opened the .pst and copied the the contacts folder from that .pst into my current.pst. When that happened it created a 2nd folder called contacts1. I can delete that folder but how can I delete the original contacts folder or copy this folder directly into the root of the contacts folder without creating another folder inside the contacts folder.
So after this jibberish I what I would like to do is get that other contact list out of the other .pst file and import it in to my current outlook contact folder. Anyone ever tried this?
Hopefully this message isn't as confusing as it sounds.

Wouldn't your contacts be in a pab file? not a pst?

You can delete any folder you like in Outlook. Open the folder you want to delete, go to File > Delete Folder and that's it. You can also move folders in the same manner and make them sub folders or whatever you like.

.pab is used with the Exchange Server system (personal address book). Anyway, to answer your question I would recommend that you export your contacts to a seperate .pst file e.g. contacts.pst then import it useing all defaults settings. If you want the contacts put into a seperate folder e.g. contacts II, you need to specify this when you import.

Thankyou for your suggestions what I did do was go into the new contacts folder, imported from a program and choose .pst file. I chose the contacts folder from the .pst I was trying to import from and checked off import into current folder and copied everything in to the new contacts folder.
