I use microsoft outlook 2000 as my mail client. The format appears to look fine when I send it but when someone replies back to me my format looks like the following:

Joan,

I tried calling you earlier but there was no answer. Can you please
e-mail
me the offer, the days/hours that I would be working. Did you happen to
ask
Paul Johnson about the administrator position? If you did, what
did
he say? I'm on my way out until late tonight so I'll get back to you as
soon
as I can.

What causes this and what do I need to do to solve this? I appreciate any help.

I thought that was more a function of the size of each person's e-mail window that was used when the e-mail was created.

Are you trying to say if the window wasn't fully open when they reply it would end up like that?

That's usually the first place I see this type of thing happening. You are kind of seeing where their computer word wrapped the text due to a small window when the e-mail was created.

It makes sense but I assume you're not positive that is the problem? Could it be that it's a formatting issue on the part of the sender. Are they using HTML? Are they entering hard returns at the end of sentences?

One thing I've learned over the years with computers, is that until you know something has actually solved the problem, you are not sure it is the solution. You can suggest the mostly likely solution, or what has worked in the past. But until you see the results, you can't be positive.

Bob, please see my last post as a possible cause as well. What do you think?

I would think that most people are not breaking up sentences like:

I tried calling you earlier but there was no answer. Can you please
e-mail

With a hard return after the word "please" to cause a word wrap at the wrong location.

I guess i'll assume the problem is on the other person's end then
