We have a user who when opening Outlook 2003 on a Win XP machine gets the following error message:

"Microsoft Office Outlook-Data file mailbox %user% not closed properly. File being checked for problems".

This takes approx. 15-20 minutes to run.

Make sure the user is closing out of Oulook properly, also try the SCANPST.EXE tool located somewhere in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 folder.

You could also delete and let Oulook rebuild the .OST file.
