I just starte using Outlook 2003.
I have a Yahoo and a Hotmail email account.
When I send a message to myself at either address, the email only goes to the Outbox and some time later I get messages such as:

< Task 'Yahoo - Sending' reported error (0x80004005) : 'Outlook's request to the server failed.
    The server responded ''. ' >

What may be wrong? What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance for all help offered.

Are you using any Norton security software?

No. I have been using AVG, currently expired (I must renew it one of these days).

    Try this...

    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Double Click Windows Firewall
    3. Click the tab Advanced
    4. Under Network Connection Settings, click your connection, e.g. Local Area Connection
    5. Click Settings
    6. Under Services, check Web Server (HTTP) and click OK

Now your Outlook 2003 will be able to synchronize with your Yahoo account.

I just tried your suggestion, kenne75 (I don't know if you received a thank you message I sent earlier) but again got the error <Task 'Yahoo - Sending' reported error (0x80004005) : 'Outlook's request to the server failed."The server responded ''. ' > Whatever may I be doing wrong?

Have you used this before where it has worked? I thought this would only work if you had a paid Plus account.

No, I had never used Outlook before. I don't even know what a paid Plus account is.

I couldn't find a description for you for the paid plus account, but it is the one you pay for it isn't the free web based accounts. Check this site out http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011133141033.aspx will explain a little more for you. If you want to use Outlook I would suggest a gmail account, as that is more IMAPI friendly which will allow you to set up your POP3 box.
