    Hello,

System: Windows 10 Home, Version 1703, OS Build 15063.674, Outlook 2016 (all MS s/w fully updated).
Hardware: I7 chip-based laptop with 16 GB RAM

    Issue:
I deleted two folders for which I had no further need. They went into the "Trash" folder in Outlook 2016. When I try to delete them permanently, however, I find that I cannot as they are recreated in seconds in the Trash folder.

    Question:
How may I delete these folders permanently?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    What are the folder names?

    Hello David,

Thank you for your response. The two folders are named after an organisation in which I used to work and a friend, who has now passed, respectively. One is named "PIST" and the other "Jack". I doubt these names have any relation to system folders, etc. The issue would appear to be quite a wide-spread one (see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...r/9eb90314-5d4c-4b92-a03f-955a37b8424e?auth=1 for instance) but few, if any, solutions are available.

    Thank you,
    Lindsay

    Hello Derek,

Thank you for your reply and time. I followed the steps in the link you provided and actually managed to delete the folders. There must be something wrong in what I am doing, however, because the next time I started up Outlook again, the folders re-appeared. I'll give it another try and get back to you. Thank you, once again.

    Hello again, Derek,

I've tried to delete those folders by following the instructions in the web link you gave me but they keep returning. I must either be missing something simple here or am even stupider than I thought I was!
