This started this morning, my other Office 2016 programs open normally.
I did some searching and so far I've tried safe mode, tried inbox repair, checked for updates, but still Outlook won't open.
Any ideas what I should try next?
TIA

If your email account is an Office365 account, then there is a known issue with Outlook not opening. At least there is with my work.

No, I don't use 365.
I've had Outlook for years, never had this problem.

OK, then it may be a profile issue. I would suggest for troubleshooting purposes to create a new profile, but you will most likely need to add the email account back in.

To create a new profile, go to Control Panel > Mail (Outlook 2016) and then under profiles click New. Name the profile (test is fine) and click ok. On the last option, make sure you select the new profile to always be loaded.

Then open Outlook and see if it prompts you to add an account or at least open up.

oh is your email an @outlook.com or @hotmail.com account? This may also fall under the service issue.

OK, trying "online repair" which has been at step 1 of 4 for about 10 minutes but it looks to still be running.
I use outlook for my ISP email acount, not for any web based email apps.

When I open control panel I don't see a 'mail' option

That is settings. You need to type Control Panel in the Search area. to get the legacy Control Panel.

Click on Category on top right to change to small or large icons to see all options.

Perhaps. :) A PST file should not be affected as that is a separate file on the computer...unless it was in the default location?

It' either stuck or taking a VERY long time to download.
I'd just feel better if I could find my .pst file, any ideas?
I searched my whole C drive, no luck. I had saved emails going back to early 2000's, hope I didn't loose everything.
