Here's what happened, and how I already tried repairing it: my e-mail stopped working -- I knew there was an issue with the fact that AOL had taken over email services for Verizon, so I tried to work on the settings. While doing that and repeatedly testing different settings, Outlook crashed.

When I tried to open start Outlook again, I got the following error message:
"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\graha\Documents\Outlook Files\"<email address>".pst cannot be opened"

So I did a little bit of research and found this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...find-and-run-the-inbox-repair-tool-in-outlook

I ran the repair tool, it found errors and fixed them. However, I Still get the same error message now.

I feel like I've been banging my head against a wall all evening. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Hey. Thanks!! I'm not sure that anything you posted helped me -- to be honest, I don't know HOW or WHY, but after fiddling with stuff in the control panel and being a bit baffled by the fact that the screens I was seeing looked absolutely nothing like what was in the instructions that you linked to, I just (accidentally, without thinking) clicked on my Outlook icon and the damned thing launched without any errors (settings are a little different now, but not a major concern). Now I simply have to get my settings right so I can download my e-mail, but that's a completely different issue.

Thanks again -- things aren't supposed to just start working by themselves, so something I did worked, but damned if I know what.
