I have just purchased a new computer running an AMD Anthlon 64 bit processor and installed WindowsXP 64 which included Outlook Express 6.0.

#1. When backing up my message files on my old computer , they backed them up as .dbx file extension. How do I import them into my new email?

#2. Spell checker does not work in Outlook Express on the new computer. Any suggestions?

#3. Then settings in my properties in Outlook Express for one email service I have, specifically on the security page, in the encription box does not save. I have applied the settings and saved it but everytime I send/receive mail or log into Outlook Express it reverts to original setting. Help

Hi tomallan

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

    To Import your saved messages:
    In Outlook Express,
File > Import > Messages > Microsoft Outlook Express 6 > Next > Import mail from an OE 6 store directory > Next > OK

Browse to the folder on your hard drive containing the .dbx files.

What security settings are you trying to apply in this area?

Let us know.

In tools then accounts then properties in Outlook express for mail there is a security page for Internet Acocunts. On that page I can only receive email when the under encrypting preferences the alogoruthm it is set at RC(40-bit) or RC (64-bit). However, when ever I try yo apply this and save it, upon opening Outlook Express, it is back to 3DES setting.

See this link for the Spell Check problem:
Spell Checking does not work in Outlook Express

I was able to copy csapi3t1.dll from another directory into the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof
Reboot and Spell check worked immediately.

I'll have to look into the Security options feature.
