Right click on the my computer icon on your desk top. Choose properties. Then click on the device manager tab at the top. Under sound and game controllers, is there any errors listed? If there is post back with them. Also, check the properties under sound, see if there is a driver installed.

Hiya

When you say "won't clean up", what are you refering to?

As to the sound, rightclick your speaker icon near the clock and choose Open Volume Controls. options | Properties. tick all the boxes and press OK. Are any of the boxes muted?

If no joy, are you refering to the New Mail sound? If so, go to Control panel | Multimedia. Under Sounds, scroll through until you see New Mail Notification. Is there a speaker next to it? If not, you can add one to it. Click on it and the drop down menu with Name will allow you to pick a sound file.

Also, if there is a speaker there, it may be a corrupt file. So, do the same, but put another sound in.

Regards

eddie
