Right now when doing a search of inbox, I discover that I have an Inbox, an Inbox (1), a Temp Inbox, and another Inbox. For serious legal reasons (I didn't do anything wrong :)), I need to get my old inbox back into shape so it can be searched and sorted. I am willing to pay but Microsoft charges $35 and then expects me to wait on hold for 1 to 2 hours (they charged me and then told me that). Now I think they have charged me yet rendered no service. This is on Windows 98 SE by the way.

Have you tried importing those old messages?

In OE, go to File>Import>Messages, step through the Wizard, telling it to "Import from a store directory," use the Browse button to point it to the folder where the messages are and hope for the best. ;)
