Hi. My wife is using OE at work as their standard email. I know, I know, it sucks, but that's what it is. Anyhow, any message she opens doesn't show the reply, reply all, forward and other standard buttons or toolbar. The only toolbar there is the File, Edit, View.......

If she clicks on View, then toolbars, then Standard Buttons, nothing happens. Nothing happens if she clicks to customize the current view or buttons either.

Does anyone have a suggestion how to get those back? She tried downloading IE and OE again, but Windows update center says she has the newest version already installed and won't let her download and install again. Ultimately, she wants to get those buttons back without losing her emails, folders and contacts.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Have her open a reply and right click off to the right of Help and select Toolbar.

In the actual message window, click on "View" on the top menu bar. Choose "Toolbars". Check "Standard Buttons". This will bring the toolbar back up for her. Also, if she wants to add/remove certain buttons from the bar, RIGHT click on the toolbar and choose "Customize".

By the way, OE is a fantastic email client. To each their own, though. ;)

Luck!

Ooops... sorry Kai. I should have read your first post a little more closely. You mentioned that you had tried these things already. Uh... I'm not sure that this would make any difference, but does your wife have Admin privileges on her XP account at work? The Admin may have her account set up to restrict her ability to customize the OE. Just fishing here...

Also, ask your wife how long this has been going on and did she do anything to the system... install/remove software, make changes, etc. just prior to this occurring. Any information she can remember will help us to help you.

Thanks,

~Eric

What OS? Service Packs?

Might work for any Windows - but it only mentions XP. So if she has something other than XP, use at your own risk. Download this VB script and run. It will edit the registry.
